Actually Somewhat Good Games
"I know writers who use subtext and they're all cowards. Ok? What I was asking in that scene is: what if politicians continue to pay doctors peanuts, could they literally turn into monkeys? And no one's asked that before."
- Garth Marenghi, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
Super Gorilla Quest is an RPG about saving the world from humanity. In it, you play as a gorilla, alongside an orangutan, a chimp, and a bonobo, as you venture through various natural and man-made locations to stop humankind's plan. What plan? I guess you'll have to play to find out.
The Plot
You, a gorilla in the jungle, awaken to find various workers cutting down the trees you live by. After defeating them, you discover a worldwide plot by the elite to secure humanity's grasp around the world. By what means? Something terrible. It's a spoiler, I think. But rest assured that it's not good, and as a team of apes, you must stop it at all costs.
The Gameplay
Super Gorilla Quest is a turn-based RPG with light exploration and puzzle elements at the core. The gameplay involves exploring areas, finding items, and killing enemies and bosses. As the game goes along, the combat gets increasingly involved and requires some effort to do well. Revolutionary.
Features
- 3-5 hours of thrilling gorilla gameplay
- Challenging but fun turn-based combat
- An eclectic and entertaining soundtrack
- Moderately funny dialogue
- 70 unique achievements
- Humorous and surreal sprites and artwork
- 4 difficulties of increasing challenge
- Gorillas... I think
- A plot
- At least 1 monkey
- And much, much more!
So buy this if you like apes, dislike humans, find turn-based RPGs fun, or are cool.
Super Gorilla Quest 2: A Space Chimpanzee is the newest RPG sensation (that is, if you're reading this a few minutes after release). It follows a team of four primates (a gorilla, an orangutan, a chimpanzee, and a bonobo) traveling through many distant lands, mostly space-related, attempting to stop the evil Mayor from destroying all non-human life. It is a direct sequel to the original Super Gorilla Quest. However, if you don't wish to play the original first, a recap is available in-game.
The Plot
Four apes, Gorilla (a stoic and driven gorilla), Orangutan (an orangutan who is incapable of speech), Chimpanzee (an intelligent but incredibly violent chimpanzee), and Bonobo (a kind-hearted and helpful bonobo), are stranded on the Moon. This is occurring because of the events of the previous game, wherein they chased the evil Mayor of City 1 (a prominent city on Earth) to the Moon to stop her from destroying all non-human life on Earth. Shortly after this, they discover an even greater conspiracy, possibly involving others they've met previously: a scheme to destroy all non-human life in the universe. To stop this, they must go on a crazy journey through space, time, and even beyond the universe itself. Along their way, they meet many other (mostly insane) individuals and experience more difficult trials than they hoped they would. There is also a severe dose of absurdist and black comedy added into the mix.
The Gameplay
Super Gorilla Quest 2 is a relatively traditional RPG, with all the trappings you'd come to expect (except for random encounters, as those are terrible. this game doesn't have any). The majority of the game is spent traversing various (often surreal) environments, fighting enemies, solving puzzles, and exploring. There are also often small minigames and the like to shake up gameplay. There is a large degree of customizability to how you approach battles, as despite each character having a small number of moves, you can string them together in numerous ways to defeat the enemies with relative ease. There are also countless "trinkets" scattered throughout the game that give you interesting gameplay buffs/debuffs, which you need to use strategically.
Features
- 7-8 hours of thrilling space gorilla gameplay
- Challenging but fun turn-based combat
- An eclectic and entertaining soundtrack
- Large amounts of quality absurdist comedy
- Humorous and surreal sprites and artwork
- Several primates, I'm pretty sure
- And much more!
So give it a shot if any of this sounds entertaining to you! And if it doesn't, then get out, we don't want you here!! (just kidding, please stay, i'm sorry)
Older and Worse Games
"I was younger then, and young men never die. When I walked out in the sun I was strong, clear-minded, and blind..."
- Swans, "Blind"
These are a bunch of (mostly not very good) games I've made before the Super Gorilla Quest series. Exercise caution when checking these out, because you will probably be disappointed. Sorry in advance.
Capitalismas - Made for Moss Salamander's Christmoss jam, and using their sprites, though released quite a bit after it finished since I was unable to finish it then. If using your sprites isn't ok, alert me and I will make my own! You are two elf workers who want to ask Santa if you can have a Christmas break. Have a merry time doing so!
Super Gummy Quest - A fully illustrated adaptation of an Amazon review of Haribo Sugar Free Gummy Bears, found here (https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/RZFIYJTPVUZ94?ASIN=B000EVOSE4). Also features several photos of airports and skulls I found online. If anyone wants me to remove a copyrighted photo, let me know!
Super Terrible Shooter - Super Terrible Shooter is a short 5-minute long FPS where you explore a small labyrinth filled with enemies and keys. The title is not a lie, this game sucks. Song used: Frontier of Knowledge by Delia Derbyshire
new mario game - new mario game. here it is. play. created for nasikla's bad parody game jam. ok.
Zacharie Does Some Stuff - Zacharie goes on a mystical journey in this epic OFF fangame.
SusQuest - Play as a red crewmate and explore a nonsensical land full of weird people and idiots.
Suits But Again - A Suits: A Business RPG fangame where more things happen, and lots of them. (This game discards anything related to Suits: Absolute Power in terms of story and continues directly from the first game.)
Space Funeral Point N Click Edition - A Space Funeral fangame where you explore the lands 25 years after the first adventure. No combat.
Please Don't Play This - Explore an odd world on a quest to escape mediocrity in those nonsensical RPG starring Sans from Undertale.
On - An OFF fangame starring an Elsen as he goes on a mysterious journey. (This is one of my first games so it's pretty awful)
The Mysterious Foundation - A Trevor Henderson/SCP Foundation crossover thingy where you fight stuff and it's pretty epic. (the game's folder is called CrapQuest since that was an early name and I didn't bother to change it)
Dire Reah - A nonlinear RPG starring a horse and unfunny humor.
Hell of Bullets - A hyper-clunky mess of a game that I don't feel like patching up! A lot of the bugs are explained in a signpost in the first area. Also please don't play this, it sucks. I don't know what compelled me to make this like a year ago. Features sprites from OFF for some reason.
Blundertale - An exploration-oriented RPG with loads of content. Most maps are sample.
Space Funeral: Strange Lands - You are TOMON IPLASTIK. Go on a MYSTICAL JOURNEY through STRANGE LANDS in this Space Funeral fangame.
Battle for Spaghetlandy - A short game where you play as Isaac from The Binding of Isaac, The Batter from Off, some random gal from Prodigy, and Webber from Don't Starve, and do some crap. All maps are sample maps cause I blow at mapping (or at least blew when this originally came out.)
Space Funeral: Apocalypse No - Explore a post-apocalyptic reality in this open-world game. Interact with the pinata at the start to read the credits. Now featuring tons of new content produced by Half Alieno and Eeheey!
BadGameQuest - An open-world RPG with tons of content.
VOID - Adventure through a strange world with a cat, a slime, and a scientist. Features 3-4 hours of content with loads of optional junk. Features: Enjoyable RPG combat! Unique battle sprites! An orchestral classical soundtrack! Humorous writing and characters! So feel free to download it if you want.
Space Funeral 8 - Phillip and Leg Horse have been teleported to a mysterious new land, and now have to escape... I guess. This game is very short but I hope it's fun. Enjoy!
The Hard-Boiled Files - Play as a hard-boiled detective known as John "Ball Buster" Smith and attempt to get every extremely confusing ending.
Crappy Maze Game - A short but sweet tough-as-nails game where you play as an onion creature. Adventure through a jail, forest, volcano, and laboratory as you avoid various enemies and obstacles. Music is from Super Meat Boy and Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass
Space Warfare Simulator 2022~Ω - A very short Space Invaders-esque shooter. Controls: Arrows to move left and right, space to shoot. Song is Toaster with Teeth from Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass
Ultra Slam Sisters - The new fighting game sensation. I guess. Play as two square women who are presumably sisters and beat each other up. Control one of them with WASD and the other with the arrows. Hold down shift or Q to go into "attack mode." Hit the other character in "attack mode" three times and you win. Intended to be played in multiplayer. If you can drag someone to play it.
Space Funeral 25 - Space Funeral 25 is a brand new Space Funeral fangame where once again as Phillip and Leg Horse you must explore a new bizarre land and conquer its many challenges to return home. Now featuring slightly more varied gameplay!
Space Funeral REMASTERED - Hello! This is a remaster of Space Funeral by thecatamites. It's an amazing game and you should play it. Anyways, this remaster's features include: tons of grammar and typo fixes, adding more context to certain dialogue, making things more accurate to the dialogue, adding a few more items, making an unused room and multiple unused items accessible, adding some more dialogue and chests, and making the combat more challenging (not much though). That's about it. Enjoy!
Dodge Simulator - Dodge Simulator is a simple arcade-style game where you play as a squid creature and avoid relentlessly bouncing enemies for as long as possible. Song is Forest Funk from Super Meat Boy
Hyper Nexus Quest Deluxe - Hyper Nexus Quest Deluxe is a crossover RPG about saving the world from a cosmic threat. Battle 137 unique enemies with bestiary entries for all of them! Play as characters from indie (and not indie) media! Experience an intentionally stupid story! Read loads of mildly funny dialogue! Avoid crabs! Fight in a simple but challenging combat system! Engage in combat with up to 10 party members at the same time! Venture through 5 optional dungeons! Battle 10 optional bosses! Engage in a philosophical discussion with a dumpster! Listen to good music taken from various sources! And much more! The game takes about 4-5 hours to beat, and about 6 to do everything. Media included in the crossover: Anodyne, Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass, Space Funeral, Off, Deltarune, Mother 3, Regular Show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Worm Quest - A non-linear sprawling piece of interactive fiction where you start as a Worm, but end up as Satan. In one of the endings, at least. The story involves a worm escaping from a badger, but the rest is a bit harder to explain. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to see everything. Hope you enjoy!
Attack of the Killer Klown Balor Skeletons - A short text adventure game where nothing happens. But the things that do happen involve you taking the role of multiple people in an intersecting story that gets increasingly confusing and convoluted. Features: Get robbed by a coffee shop owner! Die to a clown titan! Be evicted! Spill coffee on your leg! And much more!
the spookifying - the spookifying is a text adventure game inspired by games like zork and planetfall created by me that involves you, the player, going on a nightmarish quest through the unknown. jk it's just a dumb comedy game. or is it? in it, you must play as an unknown man and collect the three treasures of the world that are definitely all in the game and are very important.
